MacBook Pro 2016 vs. Razer Blade Stealth: Clash of High-End Laptops; Features and Specs Compared

Will the MacBook Pro 2016 Hold Its Ground Against the Gaming Beast Razer Blade Stealth?

When it comes to premium high-end laptops, the MacBook Pro is a surefire frontrunner. However, there's the unpopular Razer lineup that only the gaming population probably knows about that boasts beast specs. How will the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 stack up against the Razer Blade Stealth?

Design and Form Factor

The inconspicuous and iconic design of the MacBook Pro will make its way to the 2016 version. Shallower curves around the edges would give Apple's laptop a sleeker overall look and feel, along with the high-class chassis it boasts.

The slightly heavier and bulkier body of the Razer Blade Stealth is built to be solid and sturdy. The black, sleek design rightfully earns the stealth branding, which houses the powerful internal specs of this gaming ultrabook.

Hardware

The MacBook Pro 2016 is heavily rumored to sport Intel's sixth generation i5 or i7 Skylake processors. The graphics will be powered by the Polaris lineup from AMD. Novelty features such as the touch-enabled OLED strip atop the keyboard and Touch ID functionality are also integrated to the new MacBook iteration.

As the Razer Blade Stealth is already confirmed, specs are already detailed. The Intel Core i7 also makes an appearance, complete with up to 16GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD storage. The Razer Blade Stealth also attaches to Razer Cores, boosting its graphics to the powerful Nvidia GTX 1080 for optimal gaming performance.

Display

The upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to support a Retina display. The 13-inch variant comes with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, while the 15-inch model comes with a 2880 x 1800 one. It is also said to be equipped with the True Tone technology that adjusts screen color based on ambient lighting.

The smaller 12.5 inches of screen size of the Razer Blade Stealth is no slouch though. It is a touchscreen capable display and comes in two variants. The base model comes at 2K resolution with 2560 x 1440 resolution, and the 4K model comes in at a whopping 3840 x 2160 resolution, perfect for gaming.

Battery

The current MacBook Pro lineup already offers up to 10 hours of battery life for the 13-inch Retina version, and up to 8 hours for the 15-inch model. With the introduction of the power-efficient Skylake processor and software optimization through macOS Sierra, battery life is expected to last longer with the 2016 MacBook Pro.

The 53.6 watt-hour battery of the Razer Blade Stealth seems to promise great battery life for the laptop. However, with a very high resolution screen, intense performance, and poor power management by the Windows 10, actual battery life clocks in at only about 4 to 5 hours.

Pricing

The current MacBook Pro starts at $1099, so the next generation MacBook Pro lineup is expected to stay within the same range. However, the Razer Blade Stealth starts retailing at $999.99, with incremental upgrades for additional SSD storage and display upgrade.
