Mackenzie Rosman Maxim Photos: Ruthie of '7th Heaven' Embraces Grown-Up Image
Actress Mackenzie Rosman, known for her role as Ruthie on "7th Heaven," posed for the September issue of Maxim magazine.
She is not the first former cast member to pose for the magazine. Hollywood star Jessica Biel, who played Mary on the show before she was big star, posed for Gear magazine in 2000 when she was only 17.
"It was a big deal. The magazine was banned on set, I think by orders of [executive producer] Aaron Spelling," Rosman told Maxim on the controversial cover. "I sneaked a peek at it, though. It was racy gossip amongst the women of '7th Heaven.'"
Rosman was reluctant to do the shoot at first, but eventually relented.
"I caved... Just wrapped a #Maxim photoshoot," the 23-year-old tweeted.
Besides the nature of the magazine, Rosman and Biel's photos are also controversial because of the characters they portrayed on television years ago. Biel and Rosman- Mary and Ruthie, respectively- were two of seven children raised by a minister in a small town on "7th Heaven." The television show was family-friendly and wholesome, and their clean-cut images had a lasting affect.
Biel is long past the days of playing a teenager as she has starred in various movies, but the latest image of "little Ruthie," who was in elementary school when the show started, are unsettling for some.
The actress' next project will see her riding the wave of SyFy shark movies as she will appear in "Ghost Shark" on Aug. 22.
