Macy's 4th of July Fireworks 2016 Show Songs & Lyrics: Sing Along to 'Star Spangled Banner', 'God Bless America', 'America the Beautiful' and More
Lyrics of the Songs to Sing Along to during Macy's Pyrotechnic Fireworks
Just a few nights away before American Independence Day when the greatest fireworks events all around the U.S. will happen including Macy's Fireworks in New York City.
Macy's is expected to light up the night sky on the eve of 4th of July Celebration with 56,000 firework shells, the second grandest Macy's Fireworks event since 2001. It will happen on the stretch of NYC's East River at 8 p.m. and superstars will grace the event with artists Kenny Chesney, Pitfall, DNCE, Meghan Trainor and the 5 Seconds of Summer performing.
The NBC has the exclusive live broadcast of the entire event and NBC's Tamron Hall and Willie Geist will host the show.
The Independence Day is also the best time for Americans to unabashedly proclaim their love to their land. Macy's has prepared a line up of truly patriotic songs which will be played timed with the fireworks. This year, "America the Beautiful" will be the climax of this year's score and Jennifer Holliday and the USAF Singing Sergeants will sing the song.
Here are the most notable songs expected to be played along with their lyrics:
This Land is Your Land by Woody Guthrie
This land is your land This land is my land
From California to the New York island;
From the red wood forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and Me.
As I was walking that ribbon of highway,
I saw above me that endless skyway:
I saw below me that golden valley:
This land was made for you and me.
I've roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts;
And all around me a voice was sounding:
This land was made for you and me.
When the sun came shining, and I was strolling,
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling,
As the fog was lifting a voice was chanting:
This land was made for you and me.
As I went walking I saw a sign there
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing."
But on the other side it didn't say nothing,
That side was made for you and me.
In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people,
By the relief office I seen my people;
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking
Is this land made for you and me?
Nobody living can ever stop me,
As I go walking that freedom highway;
Nobody living can ever make me turn back
This land was made for you and me.
Where The Stars And Stripes And Eagle Fly by Aaron Tippin
Well if you ask me where I come from
Here's what I tell everyone
I was born by God's dear grace
In an extraordinary place
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
It's a big old land with countless dreams
Happiness ain't out of reach
Hard work pays off the way it should
Yeah, I've seen enough to know that we've got it good
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
There's a lady that stands in a harbor
For what we believe
And there's a bell that still echoes the price
That it costs to be free
I pledge allegiance to this flag
And if that bothers you well that's too bad
But if you got pride and you're proud you do
Hey we could use some more like me and you
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
Yes, there's a lady that stands in a harbor
For what we believe
And there's a bell that still echoes the price
That it costs to be free
No it ain't the only place on earth
But it's the only place that I prefer
To love my wife and raise my kids
Hey the same way that my Daddy did
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
God Bless America by Irving Berlin
While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.
God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.
The Star Spangled Banner
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
America the Beautiful by Katharine Lee Bates
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern impassion'd stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America! God mend thine ev'ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!
O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev'ry gain divine!
O Beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam,
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
