Madonna and Elton John Clash Over Oscar Parties
A war between Madonna and Elton John has begun over who will throw the most impressive post-Oscars party.
Madonna and Elton John have both decided to throw Oscar after parties in Hollywood. The parties will take place at the same time, only two miles apart. According to rumors, both stars have spent days and loads of money in an attempt to outshine one another.
The two began competing with each other during the 2012 Golden Globes, when both were nominated for "Best Song." Elton John suggested that Madonna wasn't competition. The radio station 92.7 True Oldies reported Elton John had said before the Golden Globes that Madonna "doesn't have a f---ing chance of winning tonight." When he was asked if those were "fighting words" the musician replied, "No, those are accurate words." Madonna later took home the award that night.
Elton John's Oscar party will be held at Pacific Design Centre, according to News.com.au. The ticket costs have been set at $3,500 with all proceeds to benefit the Elton John Aids Foundation. "But Madonna, who is engaged in a long-running spat with Sir Elton, is determined to upstage his dinner. The 53-year-old has poached Sir Elton's favourite LA florist, Eric Butterbaugh, and has promised guests she will sing live at her party," News.com reported.
The party will take place at Guy Oseary's house and reported confirmed guests include: Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Britney Spears, Natalie Portman, Sean Penn, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lopez and Tom Cruise. Other invited guests include Katy Perry, Chace Crawford, Dita Von Teese, Heidi Klum and Jessica Alba.
Madonna herself has even admitted to Elton John's tendencies to begrudge her. "I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years. He's known to get mad at me," the radio quoted her. However, she doesn't appear to hold any actual hard feelings. "He's brilliant and I adore him…" she added after winning the Golden Globe in January.
