Madonna Joins Instagram, Criticized Over Suggestive Pictures (PHOTO)
Madonna joined social networking site Instagram in recent weeks, making it the singer's first official social networking account. She has already sparked controversy after sharing suggestive photographs.
The 54-year-old Hollywood star has managed to avoid Facebook and Twitter, alternatively opting to use the photo-sharing cell phone app to communicate with fans. On Saturday, the mother of four shared a photograph of herself sipping on what appeared to be a Martini cocktail while dressed in lingerie.
"Cheers mother-------! I'm on Instagram," Madonna stated in the photo caption.
While the account appears to have been created back in October 2012, the singer only began sharing current photos on Saturday. So far she has already racked up more than 66,000 followers.
In another photo, Madonna is seen drenched in sweat and bizarrely only shares a view of her mouth and chest. The photo caption reads "Addicted to sweat !!!!!"
The "MDNA" singer, whose boyfriend Brahim Zaibat is almost 30 years younger than her, has been criticized over her photos, with fans arguing that her behavior is not age-appropriate. Outraged critics flocked to social networking site Twitter to weigh in on the Instagram posts.
"This woman is a mother and approaching 60! Act your age! These photos are disgraceful, you look desperate and pitiful," Sam tweeted.
"MADONNA STOP BEING DISGUSTING YOU'RE LIKE 60," Abdullah tweeted.
"madonna don't do that you are to old that's disgusting. you're bad enough as it is," Lasagne tweeted.
This is not the first time that Madonna has been criticized for her sexualized image. In 2012, she performed during the Super Bowl halftime show and critics like CNN host Piers Morgan immediately slammed the racy performance.
"That Super Bowl performance -- it was like watching your mad drunken aunt at Christmas, wasn't it?" Morgan quipped on "The Chelsea Handler show."
"I keep reading all these celebrities tweeting like, 'Wasn't she awesome?' No she wasn't! She was gruesome!" the British journalist said.
