While speaking with a Swedish television network Sveriges Television, Madonna shared the first single off of the new album will be released in March or February, according to Reuters.

“I’ve started a little bit of work in the studio,” Madonna divulged during the interview. “And then when I go back to New York until the end of the year, I’ll be recording.”

The album has not yet been named, and Billboard reported that it will be Madonna’s first recording since separating from Warner Bros. after signing a $120 million contract with Live Nation.

The album will be the 53-year-old’s first since 2008’s “Hard Candy,” which sold over 3.8 million copies worldwide.

The interview took place in Venice, Italy at the Film Festival, where Madonna promoted her latest film project, “W.E.”

The dramatic romance movie portrays the story of King Edward and VIII and his affair with an American divorcee, Wallis Simpson. The British king gave up the throne for his relationship.

Madonna said that she could relate to Simpson in the film at a press conference.

“I identified with her in that I think it’s very common when people become celebrities or public figures or icons that we are often reduced to a sound bite and that you’re given a few attributes and then you’re not allowed to have anything more than that,” Said Madonna, according to Huffington Post.

“W.E.” was Madonna’s directorial debut, and stars Abbie Cornish. During the Venice Film Festival the movie received sub-par reviews, which some critics believe is leading the singer back to her musical roots, according to E! News.

Guinness World Records recognizes Madonna as the world’s top-selling female recording artist of all time, selling over 300 million records worldwide. The Emmy-award winning singer has received critical praise for her ability to reinvent both her music and image over the course of the past thirty years.
