Madonna Reacts to M.I.A.'s Obscene Gesture During Super Bowl Halftime Show
Madonna is furious with British singer, M.I.A., for her obscene gesture during the Super Bowl halftime show.
Days after Madonna's controversial Super Bowl halftime show, the pop queen is reacting to the obscene gesture by M.I.A. According to The Sun, Madonna was not impressed by M.I.A.'s unprofessionalism.
"Madonna wasn't impressed. She prides herself on professionalism," a source told the paper. "M.I.A. did nothing similar in rehearsals. Nobody knew she was going to pull this stunt."
Madonna was joined by rapper, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., during her 12-minute performance for the Super Bowl halftime show. The trio performed Madonna's new song, "Give Me All Your Luvin'" when M.I.A. flicked her middle finger to the crowd and for 111.3 million American viewers.
Madonna is reportedly upset that M.I.A.'s middle finger is being talked about more than the actual performance.
"Madonna wanted to put on a world-beating performance. But everyone ended up talking about this girl's middle finger," the source said.
According to MSN.com, Madonna had promised producers that she wouldn't break any indecency rules, which were put in place after Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction in 2004.
"Great attention has been paid to my wardrobe," Madonna said. "There will be no wardrobe malfunctions," she declared before the show.
She also said that she had never worked so hard or been so detail-oriented over the planning of a performance in her 25 year career.

NBC was forced to issue an apology as the most-watched television program in history was once again sullied by a pop star's unpredictable meltdown.
"We apologize for the inappropriate gesture that aired during halftime. It was a spontaneous gesture that our delay system caught late," a spokesman said.
Brian McCarthy, spokesperson for the NFL, also apologized for the incident through a statement, according to International Business Times.
"The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing and we apologize to our fans," McCarthy said.
A source close to M.I.A. says that her gesture was a result of adrenaline.
"She wasn't thinking. She was caught in the moment and she's incredibly sorry," the source said.
