'Major Crimes' Canceled: Season 7 Streaming Platform Pick Up Possible? Creator Weighs In
TNT might have canceled "Major Crimes" but there's still a slight chance it will live to see through season 7. Creator James Duff weighs in on the possibility of the crime drama moving on to a streaming platform from the cable network.
Duff told fans of the series on Facebook that perhaps all is not lost on "Major Crimes." Since it has become increasingly common for shows to move from one platform to the next after a cancellation these days, then perhaps his show can go this route as well.
Duff, however, cannot promise this with certainty because Warner Brothers Television Studio owns "Major Crimes." Landing a deal with a different network or streaming site can be a tricky business dilemma.

"Most other distribution platforms are focused on not only airing new shows but also owning them," he said. "It is a challenging factor in deciding where else Major Crimes could live."
"Major Crimes" star Mary McDonnell (Commander Sharon Raydor) hinted that she knew the show won't be moving forward for season 7 with TNT for a while now. She revealed that they tried to renegotiate with the network for an extension, but to no avail.
"Trying to make sense of TNT's choices is an activity that James Duff and Mike Robin and all of us have been engaged in for a long time," the actress said in a post on Instagram. "We tried as best we could, believe me."
TNT announced the show's cancellation before "Major Crimes" season 6 will begin its run on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 9:00 p.m. EST. The final season will zero in on three big cases and serial killer Philip Stroh (Billy Burke) will also return for another multi-episode arc.
Duff and the cast promised fans that "Major Crimes" will go out with a bang on TNT. There will be 13 episodes to season 6, which will air until January 2018.
