'Major Crimes' Season 5 Episode 15: Squad Looks for Geek Killer
Sharon (Mary McDonnell) and her team will investigate the brutal murder of a young man in the upcoming episode of "Major Crimes."
In the episode titled "Cleared History," the synopsis (according to CarterMatt) reveals that the unit will be tapped to handle the case of a "one-man-geek-squad" who was found lying in a pool of blood in his living room. His throat was slashed. There are a bunch of potential suspects in the murder, including the victim's roommate. A further probe will also reveal that the dead man had been blackmailing several people prior to his death. Sharon's team must dig deep to find the killer. They cannot afford to make mistakes and give Davis (Camryn Manheim) a chance to criticize them.
The Deputy Chief of Operations has been especially cold towards Sharon in the midseason premiere. Both of them are candidates for Taylor's (Robert Gossett) old position. At the moment, Fritz (Jon Tenney) is the acting Assistant Chief of Special Operations. Davis sees Sharon as her strongest rival. She feels threatened by the captain's achievements in her Major Crimes unit.
Showrunner James Duff recently told TVLine that Davis would make no secret of the fact that she wanted the job. He also praised Manheim for her perfect portrayal of the role.
Aside from Sharon and Davis, the other one vying for the position is Leo Mason (Leonard Roberts), the commander of Criminal Intelligence. The EP said that both Mason and Sharon do not actually want the job. They just do not want Davis to become Assistant Chief of Special Operations.
"Sharon doesn't really want the job, but she really doesn't want Winnie Davis to have it. Winnie Davis poses a threat to the way the LAPD is presently organized, and she is especially displeased with Major Crimes," Duff teased.
"Major Crimes" season 5 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on TNT.
