'Major Crimes' Season 6 Spoilers: Rusty Gets Shooting Lesson from Sharon
Commander Raydor (Mary McDonnell) will take no chances in ensuring Rusty's (Graham Patrick Martin) safety in the upcoming season premiere of "Major Crimes."
Fans of the series are looking forward to what is in store for the mother and son tandem in the new installment. It has been previously teased that Rusty's old tormentor, the serial killer Phillip Stroh (Billy Burke), would return. In the past, he stalked the teen to spite Sharon following his escape from prison. Stroh is expected to continue with his taunting until the Major Crimes Unit finally get to track him down and capture him.
Sharon knows that it is only a matter of time until Stroh strikes again. She must be worried about her adopted son, knowing how vulnerable Rusty is without someone guarding him. The promo (via CarterMatt) reveals a potential solution to Sharon's concerns over her son's security. In the clip, Rusty is seen training to properly shoot a gun. His mother can be glimpsed watching him from the back. If the teen knows how to defend himself, perhaps, Sharon will not be so anxious about his safety.
Spoilers indicate that Rusty's storyline is going to be dramatic, at least regarding his relationship with boyfriend, Gus (Rene Rosado). Last season, he asked Rusty to move in with him and live at Napa Valley, where he was supposed to start with his new job. Since Rusty wanted to finish his studies at UCLA, he turned down the other's offer, but not without a messy argument happening first. Speculations are rife that the two will end breaking up, with Rusty trying to be strong so as not to worry the people around him.
Meanwhile, it has been announced (according to Deadline) that season 6 is going to be the final one for the TNT series. After five years, the show is capping off its run with the last 13 episodes, with the finale airing in January. Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming for TNT, has expressed how proud they are of accomplishing so much with "The Closer" and finally, its spinoff.
"Major Crimes has successfully navigated the many challenges that arise with a spin-off; the primary mission of which is staying true to its core DNA while expanding into unique territory all its own," Aubrey said. "From Brenda Leigh Johnson to Commander Sharon Raydor, the cast and crew have done a phenomenal job of creating enduring characters – many of whom are celebrating 200 episodes together this season."
"Major Crimes" season 6 will premiere on Oct. 31 on TNT.
