'Major Crimes' Season 7 Cancelled; Star Talks Upsetting Turn of Events
"Major Crimes" will not be returning for a seventh season.
This much was revealed by TVLine earlier this week. However, fans can still look forward to the upcoming sixth season, which will consist of 13 episodes.
"The whole company of 'Major Crimes' is dedicated to making [this] the best season yet," creator James Duff said. "We will finish our long run on TNT with a finale worthy of our loyal viewers and their years of unstinting support."
Not long after the announcement, Duff took to his Facebook page to explain that he had nothing to do with the decision to end the series. He also made it clear that he did not want to exit the show.
Duff is currently helming the final episode of season 6, which will now act as the series finale. He also took the chance to thank the loyal fans who stayed with the show throughout its seasons.
"The actors, the writers, the producers and our talented crew would have held on as long as we were relevant," he wrote. "We'll have a chance to talk about what happened in the near future. Meanwhile, we are determined to give you the best season we can."

Mary McDonnell, who stars in the series as Commander Sharon Raydor, shared a heartfelt letter to her fans, while also explaining that the cancellation did not come as a surprise.
"The writing was clearly on the wall," McDonnell wrote without going into further detail.
The actress also revealed that they have been "trying to make sense of TNT's choices" for a long time now, but they could not avoid getting the ax. She assured her fans that they did everything that they could in order to keep the show running, but it seems their best just was not enough.
