Man Destroys $423,000 Maserati With Sledgehammers for Bad Customer Service (VIDEO)
A man destroyed a $423,000 Maserati in front of a large crowd at the Qingdao International Auto Show in China Tuesday. The man, identified only as Wang, was upset with the dealership's service and accused them of fraud before smashing the luxury vehicle with sledgehammers.
The man destroyed the $423,000 Maserati Quattroporte in protest of the allegedly shoddy and criminal service he received at the hands of his dealership. Wang had taken the vehicle to fix a problem, but claims the Frui Group dealer used secondhand parts in the car without his express permission. Worse, the parts had dirt on them, the Chinese citizen was charged $390 for new parts, and some of the car's issues remained unsolved.
Wang accused the dealership and insurance company of fraud. He and two friends drove his point home with the sledgehammers breaking windows, severely damaging the exterior, and ruining the vehicle in front of a slew of press and onlookers.

"I hope foreign luxury car producers acknowledge clearly that Chinese consumers are entitled to get the service that is commensurate with the brand," Wang told The Qingdao Morning Post.
However, Maserati China and the individual dealership had responded to and addressed Wang's complaints. He did not inform them that the vehicle would be destroyed, either.
"We deeply regret that the customer decided to terminate bilateral talks in such a sudden manner," a Maserati China representative told Agence France-Presse in a statement.
Surprisingly, this isn't the only car to be smashed at the very beginning of the Qingdao Auto Show. A Lamborghini owner in March 2011 did the same, destroying his own vehicle because Lamborghini China was not paying enough attention to customers, apparently.
Wang's Maserati was bought in 2011 as well, according to reports.
