A late night prank by a group of teenagers in Little Rock, Ark., turned deadly on Valentine's Day when a 15-year-old girl ended up being fatally shot in the head by the father of a friend whose car they egged and filled with leaves.

The girl, Adrian Deejayee Broadway, died from her would early Saturday morning, according to THV 11 and left the friends she was with that night in mourning.

"She didn't have to go this way; she wasn't supposed to go," Broadway's friend, 16-year-old Kortazha Williams, told THV 11.

Williams was travelling with Broadway and five other teenagers Friday night after watching a movie and grabbing a meal at Taco Bell. The group later went to the home of Willie Noble where they covered his 17-year-old son's car with eggs and leaves (they were all friends). The prank was in retaliation to a prank their friend had pulled last Halloween, according to the Little Rock Police Department.

"It was a joke. We was friends, we was gonna come over there and clean it up," Williams said. "We were supposed to get up right now, and we were supposed to laugh," Williams added.

When the teenagers left their friend's house and returned, however, Noble reportedly opened fire on the car they were travelling in and hit Broadway in the head.

"When those kids left to go out and do this, by no means did any one of them think that this was going to be a horrible event," Lt. Sidney Allen told CNN affiliate KARK. "They didn't think that it would end up being a deadly prank."

On a Facebook page mourning Broadway's death, many aired mixed reactions about what happened.

"She lost her life because she vandalized an innocent man's car. He felt threatened and defended himself. You people need to be honest with yourselves and accept that this is entirely the vandal's fault. It's 'chickens coming home to roost' Sound familiar?" asked Jim Steele on the page.

"Wow. Yes she was wrong. I completely agree with you, but wrong or not she didn't deserve to die. Punishment yes, death no," said Deanna Hawkins.

Willie Noble, 48, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of a terroristic act and five counts of aggravated assault, according to CNN. His bond was set at $1 million.

Despite the charge, however, Noble could present a viable defense, according to CNN legal analyst Sunny Hostin.

"While Arkansas doesn't have a traditional stand-your-ground law, I've learned that they have sort of an expanded castle doctrine law, which means, not only can you defend yourself and your property inside your home, you can also do it around the perimeter of your home," she said.
