Man Kills 2 Kids While Driving Drunk; Goes On to Commit Life to Jesus in Prison After Cellmates Pray for Him, Read Him Bible (VIDEO)
On January 8, 2012, David Lamberson attended the funeral of a good friend, and, in his grief, had too much to drink. Fifteen minutes after the Shelby Township, Mich. resident left the wake, he got into a head-on collision that put him into a coma for two months.
He awoke to the pain of broken bones all over his body and injuries to his brain, heart and lungs. But worst of all, he received the news that his drunken crash killed two children in the other car.
In jail, he was initially denied bail, though he had encouragement around him. His cellmates prayed and read the Bible with him. When he finally came home, he publicly committed his life to Christ through baptism at his church.
On Dec. 13, 2012, Lamberson, 63, pleaded no contest to two counts of operating while intoxicated causing death and was sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison. In this video from January 2013, he acknowledges he's going to prison, likely for the rest of his life, but he's "almost excited" about the sentence because he knows his purpose.
"I love Christ," he says. "I'm all about Christ. I'm all about telling everybody."
