Man Mistakenly Stabbed Intruder to Death by Family Member
A man in Littleton, Ohio, has been stabbed to death by another family member, who accidentally mistook the man to be an intruder.
Property managers of the Wolhurst Retirement Community said two other male family members were visiting Judy Jones, who typically lives alone.
While Jones and one of the male family members were alone, the second male family member attempted to enter the house. The first male family member reacted by stabbing the second man multiple times, believing him to be an intruder. While the case remains open, Jones is staying with different members of the family. According to 9News the mistaken intruder often made visits to Jones, and had his own key.
Once the intruder was recognized, Jones and the male suspect immediately called 911. Property manager Lon Loomis told CBS that the Jones was emotionally conflicted over the incident. “Physically she’s okay but mentally she’s just devastated by what’s happened,” he said.
The man who suffered stab wounds was later pronounced dead. While the investigation is still pending, police have yet to press charges and believe the stabbing to be an unfortunate accident.
Police have also not released the names of the two men or their relation to Jones. However, according to Fox 31, Jones’ nephew was visiting when her son came by for an unexpected visit.
