Managing Allergy Symptoms the Natural Way
If you're an allergy sufferer, you might find it interesting - and perhaps even comforting - to know that the majority of Americans are sensitive to at least one common allergen, according to a study featured in the Journal of Allergy & Clinical Immunology.
In the study, Samuel J. Arbes, Jr., DDS, MPH, PhD, and researchers at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases found that 54.3 percent of the population in the United States, aged 6 to 59 years, had a positive allergy skin test to at least one of 10 common allergens. The study also found that an individual with a positive skin test reacted to an average of three to five allergens. The most common reactions were to dust mites, rye grass, ragweed and cockroaches, which accounted for approximately 25 percent of the U.S. population represented in the study.
Consulting an allergist/immunologist before your symptoms begin, or before they worsen, is an important first step in maintaining proper allergy and asthma control, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI). An allergist/immunologist is the best-qualified medical professional trained to manage the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of allergies and asthma. He or she will:
• Work to accurately diagnose your condition by taking a thorough patient history, including information about your symptoms, family history and home and work environment.
• Conduct allergy skin testing and any other needed tests.
• Help you develop an appropriate management plan, including treatment recommendations and advice on any needed environmental control measures.
Following these tips, along with taking a daily natural supplement program that includes nutrients like those found in my Histamet formula, can help you find relief from your allergy symptoms so that they don't disrupt your life.
