City have done well to surpass expectations in the premier European competition.

Having their struggles in the English Premier League, City are currently fighting for a spot for next year's Champions League.

However, they may skip all of that and automatically qualify if they win this year's competition.

And they are only a few games away from accomplishing that feat, but they must first do a good job at home against Real Madrid.

City have done well in the past rounds as outlasted Dynamo Kyiv 3-1 in the first knockout stages.

Then they were given the tough task to face Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals.

They held their own in the away leg as they scored in Paris and came away with a 2-2 draw and a chance to win it all at home.

City did not let up as they did their best to win the second leg at home, which they were granted after a 1-0 win at the Etihad saw them move on after a 3-2 aggregate victory.

After toppling one big squad, they are facing one of their biggest opponents in Madrid.

As for the Spanish giants, they also had a scare in the quarterfinals when they faced a tough German club in Wolfsburg.

Playing the first leg away from home, Madrid saw themselves in a deep hole after losing 2-0 and failing to score a crucial away goal.

Needing a big game at the Bernabeu, Madrid put on a vintage performance which saw them put three goals past Wolfsburg en route to a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Now they can take a step closer to the finals with a big win away from home against City.
