Manchester United News: Red Devils interested in Neymar

After a failed bid for Pedro, United are now eyeing another Barcelona man.

After missing out on Pedro Rodriguez, rumors have been circulating that Manchester United is trying to sign another big name out of Barcelona – star forward Neymar.

The Red Devils have long been linked with the Spanish winger, but a surprise move from Chelsea saw their bid for Pedro go up in flames with him going to Stamford Bridge instead.

However, instead of hanging their heads with the loss of a potential star, United is apparently trying to find a way to bring the Brazilian wonder to Old Trafford.

According to The Sun's Shaun Custis, team executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has travelled from Manchester to Barcelona on multiple occasions as they tried to lure Pedro in – but he also had the agenda of inquiring about the availability of Neymar.

The tabloid revealed: "United is one of the biggest clubs in the world so it is right they should be chasing a player who has the potential to be the best player on the planet."

And according to Jamie Jackson of The Guardian, it seems that Neymar is open to the chance of changing uniforms and leagues. However, the chance that it may happen within this transfer period is very unlikely.

If it were to happen, then United should be ready to shell out a hefty amount as there is a buy-out clause of £137.8 million to open a move for Neymar, as Barcelona claimed that neither one of their three attacking stars are for sale.

Neymar is a part of arguably three of the best attacking forces in football as he is alongside Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez and four-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.

The Brazilian has been an important part of Barcelona's engine that has resulted in them winning a treble last year – with Neymar scoring a total of 32 goals across all competitions.

With the Red Devils needing a potent force in front of the goal, Neymar certainly fits the bill, but it seems like a long way before it comes to fruition as he is enjoying his trade at Camp Nou.
