Manchester United Transfer News: Rumors Point to $40 Million Lucas Moura Deal
Manchester United are reportedly set to agree a $40 million (GBP 26m) deal to sign Sao Paulo star Lucas Moura.
The potential move has shocked some who are skeptical over whether Moura, a mere 19-year-old, is worth such a massive fee. However, Manchester United fans have gotten used to putting their faith in veteran manager Alex Ferguson, and perhaps the fact he is willing to lay out so much for the young attacking midfielder shows what a talent Moura is.
Ferguson has been known to be an admirer of Moura for a number of months now; he is just half the age of Paul Scholes and is one of the fastest players in the Brazilian league at present.

Moura seems to be a perfect fit for United, bringing much needed youth to the aging Manchester United squad, as well as bringing one of the hottest talents in Brazil to the Premier League. Following Chelsea's signing of Eden Hazard, Manchester United fans were calling for a big name to join their ranks and to send a message they can still compete in the transfer market; and with this signing the Man Utd fans would certainly be able to claim that.
However, Ferguson, speaking in Shanghai on United's pre-season tour, has said: "We haven't reached an agreement for the player. We have shown interest but until such time as we can get an agreement, then we can't say he's our player."
Manchester United fans will be hoping the deal can be finalized soon, as Moura's dribbling skills and flair will be sure to light up Old Trafford if he makes it there next season.
Last season was a tough one for United fans, having to witness arch rivals Manchester City stealing the Premier League trophy in the final minutes of the whole season, after it had looked like they had blown it. The coming season will be as important as any in Alex Ferguson's long reign as Manchester United manager, and fans will be demanding they take back what they believe is rightfully theirs – the Premier League crown.
