Manny Pacquiao Fight News: Bob Arum Believes 'Pacman' May Return Due to 'Need for Big Payday'

Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao ended his 20-year career with a victory on Saturday night, through a unanimous decision against former WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley.

The 12-round fight that took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas rendered a 116-110 tally from the three judges, all in favor of the Filipino boxing icon.

Right after the fight, Pacquiao kept true to the numerous declarations he made in the past months about finally retiring from professional prizefighting to concentrate on both being a family man and a full-time politician in his home country.

"I've made a commitment to my family that I'm going to retire after this. Maybe I enjoy being a retired man, serving the people, helping the people," said Pacquiao, who will also be running for Senator at the May 9th Philippine Elections.

As of the moment, Pacquiao has his hands full with all his future commitments outside of the sport that continuing his boxing career is currently out of the question. But for Top Rank chief Bob Arum, that may not be the case for long.

In a report by Boxingscene, the 84-year old veteran boxing promoter says while Pacquiao may be focused on his family and politics as of the moment, there could be a possibility that these plans could changes, especially if monetary needs would be brought into the conversation.

"He's torn. His wife wants him to retire," Arum said. "He's running for office, and if he wins, which he will, there will be tremendous responsibilities that go with it."

"However, a big payday is something he might require in the near future," he added.

Arum also says that Pacquiao's financial woes may come out in the near future, considering that the latter may "build hospitals out of his own pocket" as opposed to letting the Philippines government handle it.

"Manny politely listens to everybody, and then does what he wants," Arum said. "He has no advice that he will accept."
