Marc Anthony Denies Cheating With Jada Smith, Explains Split With J.Lo

Singer Marc Anthony has gone public about his pending divorce from Jennifer Lopez in an interview with Nightline aired on Thursday. The singer told ABC News’s John Quiñones that he can’t pin point “what went wrong” but the rampant infidelity rumors are not true.

The Puerto Rican star was adamant about never being unfaithful during his seven-year marriage to Lopez.

“It was a flight attendant, it was the pilot-- I heard it was this guy sitting next to me in a rehab in Houston. I've heard it all,” he said of rumors of an affair. “People are trying to peg it on things because it was so shocking. It was like, it must have been something. It wasn't something sensationalistic [sic].”

Anthony also denied rumors that he was having an affair with HawthoRNe costar, Jada Pinkett Smith.

“When something like that happens, it’s laughable. We were laughing, like ‘Wow,’” he said. “We’ve been friends for years. Jada, Jennifer, me, him, for years…”

The singer brushed the rumor aside but is concerned about the Smith family.

“What bothers me is the effect it has on family, to Will and Jada’s, and their children, and their relatives, and their loved ones,” Anthony said.

Anthony said he and Lopez decided to split because the marriage was no longer working.

“It was a realization on both our parts. So, you know, it wasn’t shocking. These things happen,” he said. “It was a decision that we made jointly.”

“This is not a funeral. This is not a burial. This is just two people who came together and just realized-- and so I’m saying that it wasn’t sustainable the way it was, and that’s that,” he said.

The former couple will remain friends to make things easier for their 3-year-old twins, Max and Emme.

Anthony said, “I’m always going to be Daddy…And they’re used to me traveling and Jennifer traveling and, you know, we speak all the time, and try to maintain that presence.”

The 42-year-old singer said he will “always love Jennifer.”

The couple announced their split in early July saying, “We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.”

They married in June 2004 in a casual, private ceremony at Lopez’s Beverly Hills home.
