First sitting president to address March for Life

In 2020, Republican President Donald Trump became the first sitting president to address the March for Life in person, as previous Republican commanders-in-chief had done video messages instead.

“Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House,” said Trump to those gathered at National Mall. “And as the Bible tells us, each person is wonderfully made.”

In 2017, shortly after Trump took office, Vice President Mike Pence became the first sitting vice president to address the March for Life in person, vowing that the administration would be an ally to the pro-life cause.
