Mariah Carey Opens up About Twins, Marriage to Nick Cannon
Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon have introduced their twin babies to the world, in an exclusive interview with Barbara Walters Thursday.
Five-month-old Moroccan and Monroe took center stage in the special ABC interview –as Carey and Cannon opened up about their marriage, the struggle to conceive, and the difficult pregnancy.
After suffering a miscarriage, Carey underwent fertility treatments that included acupuncture. The new mom told Walters that the process was “really tough.”

“The main thing I did that was tough, was to go on progesterone like every month… And then when I was pregnant, I had to stay with the progesterone for ten weeks,” Carey told the “20/20” host Barbara Walters.
According to Carey, it reduced the chances of a miscarriage by 50 percent.
“I wanted thirst quenching things,” the 40-year-old revealed of her pregnancy. “I didn’t even care about the food, apart from the candied apples in the beginning.”
Married once before to Tommy Mottola, who discovered her, Carey said the experience made her “afraid of the concept of marriage.”
Her happy union to Cannon began April 30, 2008, when the two were married – just weeks after they had started dating.
“Nobody will ever be able to steal my spirit again,” said Carey. “I’m just so happy to be in love and to be here.”
Host of “America’s Got Talent,” Cannon, 29, admitted that he would rather his children stay away from Hollywood when they grow up, and do “something greater than entertainment.”
“Society puts too much on entertainment and entertainers,” said Cannon. “They praise they like they’re royalty, especially in America, where it should really be about the teachers or, you know, the doctors.”
Nicknamed “Roc and Roe,” the twins were born on the couple’s four-year wedding anniversary.
The interview will air on ABC’s “20/20” Friday at 10 p.m. EST.
Carey collaborated with Justin Bieber on his Christmas album Under the Mistletoe, which is set for release Nov. 1.
