Marie Little, Widow of Paul Little, Dies at Age 91
Marie Huttenlock Little, the widow of late evangelism guru Paul Little, passed away last week after more than six decades of ministry. She was 91.
Both Bright Hope International and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship reported last Thursday of Little's death on July 28 but gave no details on the circumstances.
Little had known Bright Hope International's founder, Kevin Dyer, for almost 50 years and was involved with InterVarsity since the late 1930s, when she became active in Nurses Christian Fellowship as a nursing student in Philadelphia.

"Marie demonstrated her commitment to campus evangelism and the Great Commission as a student. The chapter she helped establish at the University of Pennsylvania is still ministering to the spiritual needs of students," commented InterVarsity president Alec Hill. "Through her service on InterVarsity staff, her marriage to Paul Little, and her faithful dedication to keeping Paul's books up-to-date, she has helped make the gospel relevant for generations of seekers."
Little's husband was InterVarsity's director of Evangelism from 1965 until 1975, the year he died in a tragic automobile accident.
Before his death, Paul Little had written a number of popular books on evangelism and apologetics – one of which (Know Why You Believe) was selected by Christianity Today magazine as one of the 50 most influential books of 20th century evangelicalism. He's also known for How to Give Away Your Faith and Know What You Believe.
After her husband's death, Marie Little managed his ministry legacy, working with InterVarsity Press to make sure that her husband's writings stayed relevant and stayed in print.
She also had an extensive ministry in reaching out to people in her community and had scores of Bibles Studies and discipleship groups over the years.
A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, at Willow Creek Church in South Barrington, Ill.
According to Dyer, Little requested that donations be made in her honor to Bright Hope International or InterVarsity.
