'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe' Gameplay News, Updates: Nintendo Announces 'High-Octane' Battle Mode Features and New Characters
Nintendo just announced that "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" will be introduced to the Nintendo Switch with new "high-octane features" in the battle mode department plus several new characters.
According to Nintendo's announcement, "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" for Nintendo Switch will contain all game modes, features and characters from the "Mario Kart 8" originally released on Wii U in 2014. Added to that, the Japanese video game company is bringing in five more new racers in April for "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe."
Set to arrive in the game are characters named Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, King Boo, Dry Bones, and Bowser Jr. This will give Nintendo Switch players a total of 42 racers to choose from in "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe."
"New karts inspired by Splatoon, the ability to hold two items at once, returning items like the item-stealing Boo and jumping Feather, a new Smart Steering control option, and even more awesome features truly make this the definitive version of an already classic game," Nintendo teased.
Also, for the Nintendo Switch title "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe," the video game company has redesigned and revamped the Battle Modes with "a variety of fun options across eight colorful and well-designed Battle courses."
Some of the game modes to be reintroduced in the game are Balloon Battle where racers will need to pop balloons found at the end of the enemy's car to earn points; Bob-omb Blast where the goal is to throw the game's version of bombs at opponents; Coin Runners where the two main goals are to win the race while racking up as much coins (placed along the track) as a racer can; and Shine Thief, which is one of the most classic game modes of the franchise with the goal of getting the Shine Sprite and preventing others from getting it for 20 seconds.
On the other hand, the newest gameplay mode called Renegade Roundup is first introduced in "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe." The goal is for each team to capture their opponent and bring them to prison before the allotted time ends.
"Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" arrives in Nintendo Switch on April 28 for $59.99.
