Mario Kart 8 Release Date News: Best Buy and Nintendo Partner to Give All Pre-Orders $10 Gift Card for 'Real' Gas

Mario Kart 8 Wii U has a new promotion that is partnering Nintendo with Best Buy, and will give players who pre-order the game early a $10 prepaid MasterCard to use as "real" gas money.

"While supplies last. Offer available for physical game (SKU 8400089) only. In-store pre-order and purchase: code will be printed out on your store receipt at time of game pickup. Online pre-order and purchase: code will be e-mailed within 24 hours of street date. Enter this code at www.revupyourkart.com/redeem to get your Gas Cash, which can be redeemed at any gas station in the United States that accepts MasterCard," reads the listing on Best Buy's website.

The receipt with the code has to be registered by June 30, and the card is usable until August 31. The card could also be used for anything, not specifically jus for gas as the promotion would suggest. The gas theme is to keep for Mario Kart 8. See the listing here.

A Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle was confirmed by Nintendo along with a Yoshi-themed remote to go along with the new Princess Peach one.

The console bundle and controllers will be heading to Europe on May 30, Nintendo U.K. announced, reported Polygon.

The Mario Kart 8 Wii U Premium Pack will be £249.99, and include the 32 GB black model of the console with the GamePad controller, sensor bar, and a copy of the game. Another two bundles are being offered, reported Polygon. For £299.99, players will be given a GamePad cover protector, the Wii U Racing Wheel, and Mario or Luigi themed remote.

There is no word on whether these packs will be released in the U.S. yet. The bundle was rumored at the beginning of the week but Nintendo remained silent until today. "We don't have anything to announce at this time," they initially said.
