In 2008, "Mario & Sonic" launched on Wii, giving players a physically challenging game just like what athletes in the Olympics experience. Four years after, the 2012 London Olympics witnessed the introduction of unusual events which many found weird.
Game Events
For the 2016 Rio Olympics this August, former rivals will be meeting for another competition in various sporting events such as archery, football, track and field, and even rugby. It will not directly start with the tournament proper but will introduce players to the Copacabana Beach, the hub for the game where they can practice in single matches.
Just like Olympic matches, Mario & Sonic players need to survive the qualifying matches prior to playing semifinals and finals games. Players can also adjust the difficulty level of the game depending on their choice.
What is the Best Event to Play?
"Mario & Sonic at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games" offers 14 events with football and rugby as the most notable games in the instalment. There is a duel-event for every game offering.
However, the volleyball tournament needs improvement in terms of pace and control in both the duel and normal mode. The game has old mechanics and does not come with a competitive online mode.

On the other hand, the new "Mario & Sonic at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games" boasts colorful and clear graphics, making the characters look lively and strong. Some parts of the game still need to be a bit more realistic, but its display remains one of its strongest features. Aside from this, players can also enjoy multiplayer games especially when playing rugby, table tennis and boxing.

Nintendo's official website added that golf will also be part of the "Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games" since it will also return to the Olympics in more than 100 years. The game is available for $39.99 for Nintendo 3DS users.
