Marvel Cinematic Universe News: Is Fox Willing to Lend the X-Men to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a Movie with Avengers?

In the advent of character crossovers, there is now a possibility for the X-men to find their way in the universe of the Avengers, and vice versa, after Tim Miller and producer Simon Kinberg recognizes the idea as fun.

It is a known fact that X-Men is owned by Fox, and Avengers and the Marvel Cinematic Universe are owned by Marvel Studios. However, with the latest development involving Spider-Man, wherein Marvel and Sony reached a deal at the negotiating table, hope for the X-Men to penetrate the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a side-by-side adventure with other superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has now flickered.

To those who are confused why Marvel doesn't have full rights to some of its characters, it is because it sold some of the rights of the characters it incarnated in the comic books to various studios, including 20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures, Lionsgate, Stan Lee, and Sony Pictures. However, when Marvel set up its own studio, it started gathering back the characters it entrusted to others, although not all of them have been returned yet, including X-Men.

However, with sensible talks at the negotiation table, Marvel has now started laying its hands on the characters that it previously owned, case in point, Sony's Spider-Man. After the long wait, the character is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Spider-Man debuts via a cameo on the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" as portrayed by Tom Holland. The character is also set to be featured via a solo film titled "Spider-Man: Homecoming," which is slated for a release in July next year.

With this, fans can only hope that Marvel and 20th Century Fox can also reach a deal to share the two groups of Marvel superheroes, the Avengers and the X-Men, in a movie.

"I would love to, someday, in part heal the rift between the world of X-Men and the world of Avengers," Miller said when asked about the crossover possibility, to which Kinberg echoed by saying:

"I think we all would, yeah… there's so much crossover in the comics, it would be neat to one day see those characters share a movie. It would be fun to all team-up one day, somehow, together if that could work," Kinberg expressed.
