'Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite': One Big Change to Expect in Fighting Game

"Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will be very different from Capcom's fighting game in the sense that it will be "far more simplistic," as per the studio's COO, Stuart Turner.

In an interview with GameIndustry.biz, Turner said that they focused on how they push the envelope in the fighting game genre, an area that Capcom believes it excels in.

"The history of the genre means that its fanbase skews slightly older than other types of games. So the challenge for us, and any other publisher, is always to bring new people into fighting games," he said.

"Marvel vs. Capcom fits into this as a great introduction to the genre as a whole, far more simplistic and technically easier to pick up and play. And obviously having some of the best known characters on the planet from the Marvel Universe has huge appeal especially to that younger new audience we're keen to bring in," the Capcom executive went on to say.

According to PC Gamer, this should help Capcom satisfy both newcomers to the genre and the core fanbase with "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite."

As the publication pointed out, fighting gamers are not the easiest to get around with especially to players that are new to the genre.

Thankfully, this would not be an issue in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite." This, in turn, should result in a richer and bigger community backing the game.

Not much has been revealed yet about "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite." So far, only six characters have been confirmed. These are Ryu, Mega Man X, Iron Man, Captain Marvel and Captain America, all of whom appeared in the reveal trailer for the game.

More characters should be revealed soon as the release date of the crossover fighting game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC is set later this year.
