Marvel's 'Black Panther' Star Chadwick Boseman Shares His Experience with the 'New' Superhero Role
The debut of Black Panther in "Captain America: Civil War" has kept the fans talking about the actor's fierce and cool portrayal of the king of Wakanda.
The man behind the character, Chadwick Boseman, was able to share his story on how he was able to land the role of Black Panther during an appearance in "Live with Kelly and Michael."
He explained that he was already reading the "Black Panther" comics when he was still studying in Howard University. Boseman stated that he was already eyeing the role before he started his career in acting.
In the reports of South China Morning Post, Boseman's breakthrough role was when he portrayed Jackie Robinson in the film, "42," which was shown in theatres in 2013. According to IGN, while the 39 year old actor was shooting for another film, "Gods of Egypt," there was one security guard back in 2014 that foresaw his role for the Wakandan King.
Boseman told in an interview that when he was shooting in Australia, he experienced the first foreshadowing of his destiny to take on the role - when he got inside his trailer. He saw the first issue of the "Black Panther" and believed it was a sign that he was going to get the role.
As reported by Movie News Guide, the actor was praised by the director of "Civil War," the Russo brothers, on the methods that he did in order to commit to the role. The actor had to learn from two dialect coaches in order to master his accent as a Wakandan. Also, he studied multiple forms of martial arts so he can handle the catlike fighting style of the character.
With that, fans can expect to see Chadwick Boseman in his upcoming solo movie, "Black Panther," which is slated to be released in 2018.
