Marvel's 'the Defenders' Starts Filming This Year, Daredevil to Act as Team Captain?
Marvel's upcoming "The Defenders" may be hitting Netflix sooner than expected. According to a report by Paste Magazine, the announced miniseries will commence filming this year already. This information was told by "Daredevil" star Charlie Cox himself during a press for Netflix in Paris on Monday, April 11.
The source stated that he revealed the news after fans questioned him about the third season for "Daredevil," which until now has not been announced yet. "What we do know is, at the end of this year, we're going to be making The Defenders, and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome," the actor said.
There are reports also saying that the standalone series featuring Matt Murdock may not move on to the next installment anymore, which suggests that the second season may be the kickoff point for the Netflix Original series that will feature the first of four standalone superheroes comprising of Daredevil, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and the newest Defender, Iron Fist (Finn Jones).
BGR noted though that little is known with how things will play out especially since one season of "Jessica Jones" have been released so far and "Luke Cage" is still to premiere on Sept. 30. As for "Iron First," it's speculated to come out next year.
The storyline and how "Daredevil" and "The Defenders" will connect is still kept under wraps but Cox spoke to Empire and said that the blind lawyer-by-day and crime fighter-by-night may be the team captain of the group of heroes. When asked if he will at the forefront, Cox answers, "He can't do this alone. He's been so adamant about being a lone wolf, about doing it himself, so I think that in order for him to get to The Defenders we needed this second season. We needed to see him be broken individually so that he can - he's willing to form a team."
Fans will have to stay tuned for more updates.
