Mary Kate Ring Debuted, Actress Signals Engagement With Huge Diamond
Mary-Kate Olsen debuted the engagement ring she recently received from fiancé Olivier Sarkozy while in New York this week.
The ring sighting occurred during the actress' outing in New York City on Monday, March 3- just days after reports indicated that the "Full House" star was engaged. While Olsen concealed her face from the cold as well as photographers, the actress' thick gold ring featuring a large center diamond was revealed, according to Us Weekly.
Meanwhile, reports that the 27-year-old fashion mogul was engaged to Sarkozy, a 44-year-old French banker, were confirmed on Feb. 28. The couple has been dating almost two years despite their 17-year age difference.
Long before confirmation of their betrothal, Olsen and Sarkozy were rumored to be engaged and even believed to have already married, but Olsen's representative repeatedly denied the previous reports until now. The marriage will be Olsen's first and Sarkozy's second. He and ex-wife Charlotte Bernand share two children together; Julien, 12 and Margo, 10.
"Mary-Kate made him a better father," an insider previously told Us Weekly. "She remembers all the kids' special events. She think he's a great dad."
Alternately, Olsen's family, including her twin sister Ashley, also think highly of Sarkozy.
"Mary-Kate's family think Olivier is the best thing to happen to her," the insider added. "They love him."
Olsen and Sarkozy, the half-brother of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy- live together in NYC where they share a $6.25 million townhouse.
While it surprised many that Mary-Kate is engaged to marry a man 17 years her senior, the actress' famous twin sister is also dating an older man. Ashley has sparked rumors of a romance with "Moneyball" director Bennett Miller, who is 20 years her senior.
