Mary Mary Gospel Duo Gear Up for Dramatic Reality Series
The famed gospel duo Mary Mary is gearing up to film a new reality television show on WE tv, which will make its premiere next March.
The Grammy-award-winning group is teaming up with the network to create a show surrounding the lives of the two involved sisters and singers, Erica and Tina Campbell. The show will follow the duo making music, touring and document their family life.
The show, titled Mary Mary, will be filled with "every kind of family and all kinds of drama," according to WE tv. Part of that drama will surround Erica, who is expecting to give birth to a baby girl in February.
However, the singer maintained that the most important thing to her was family.
“If I go out and I’m singing about love to the whole world and my daughter sees me on TV and rolls her eyes because she knows I didn’t spend time with her, she wouldn’t believe me,” said Erica, according to Essence.com. “[My kids] are my first responsibility.”
Kim Martin, president and general manager of WE tv, gave a synopsis of what will become a part of the network’s Thursday night programming.
“Mary Mary is a great fit for WE tv,” Martin said. “Erica and Tina are modern women balancing careers and family and doing it in the spotlight. Their issues are the same as so many women today, and this show will capture the entertaining ups and downs of life that they face on a daily basis.”
The new show will begin after the second season of "Braxton Family Values," and is an effort brought forth by the network to expand their urban audience.
"Thursdays are an extension of this strategy and will be dedicated to super serving WE tv’s growing urban audience," the network said.
