'Mass Effect: Andromeda' News: PC Requirements Revealed; Map Sizes, Gameplay Detailed
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" has gone gold, which means it is ready to hit the shelves. To help gamers prepare for its arrival, BioWare revealed the PC system requirements for the game.
The minimum and recommended requirements for the game include a DirectX 11 and for the operating system (OS), the 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Gamers can go for an Intel Core i5 3570 processor or an AMD FX-6350 chip to play "Mass Effect: Andromeda," but BioWare recommends the Intel Core i7-4790 or the AMD FX-8350.
As for the memory, 8 GB random-access memory (RAM) would be fine, but it will be better to have 16 GB RAM.
As for the video card, the minimum requirement is the NVIDIA GTX 660 2 GB or the AMD Radeon 7850 2 GB. The recommended video card for "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is the NVIDIA GTX 1060 3 GB or an AMD RX 480 4 GB. The hard drive should have at least 55 GB free game.
With "Mass Effect: Andromeda" now gold, fans will not have to worry about the game being delayed. At the moment, BioWare is now just working on the day-one patch.
As the waiting game gets shorter, fans can feast themselves on the new details revealed about the highly anticipated space shooter courtesy of Reddit user Skill-Up, who was invited by EA Australia to play the game.
He answered questions from other players based on the experience. For starters, he revealed that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" feels "very much an action game now," comparing it to "Gears of War."
"I actually really enjoyed this, but I suspect that some people will feel it has strayed too far from its strategic RPG roots," he explained. Skill-Up added the depth and complexity of the skill system is "excellent."
"The sheer number of build options available is hugely impressive. I don't think the game has been 'dumbed down' in the context of its RPG systems," he elaborated. The Redditor gushed about how rich the skill system is in "Mass Effect: Andromeda."
As for the open-world aspect of the game, he said that after visiting a couple of planets in "Mass Effect: Andromeda," he can say the size of the maps are comparable to that of the ones on "Dragon Age: Inquisition."
"They are sizable enough without feeling pointlessly large. They also feel quite dense — there are rarely long stretches of nothing. The side-quests do lead you into the open world areas to find, for example, some ruins so that you can scan something for one of your companions," he explained.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be released for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on March 21.
