'Mass Effect: Andromeda' News: Upcoming Game May Take Longer to Finish Than Most Recent Installment of the Franchise

Exploring planets, sidequests could be some of the reasons why 'Mass Effect: Andromeda' will take longer to finish

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is expected to present players with a massive undertaking and it is apparently one that they will need quite a bit of time to finish.

Over on Twitter, lead designer Ian S. Frazier hinted at the length of the upcoming game, specifically in relation to the franchise's most recent main offering, "Mass Effect 3."

Responding to a fan who talked about needing nearly two days to finish "Mass Effect 3," Frazier noted that players may need more than just two days for "Andromeda."

Obviously, the exact length of time players will need in order to finish the game will vary from one fan to the next, but what's noteworthy here is that the next entry of the series is currently viewed as a lengthier offering.

Exactly how "Andromeda" will provide more hours of gameplay in comparison to "Mass Effect 3" is likely related in some way to the side offerings it will feature.

For instance, many of the planets set to be featured in the upcoming game are expected to be locations worth noting and exploring further. Speaking earlier to Game Informer, creative director Mac Walters shared that he wants the planets inside "Mass Effect: Andromeda" to be "memorable," and one way to do that is to fill them up with enough things to do that players can't help but remember them.

Sidequests will also likely contribute to the new game providing more hours of content worth going through, with producer Fabrice Condominas telling PC Gamer recently that these additional missions will be "meaningful."

On top of that, "Andromeda" is also expected to feature more new characters and settings than "Mass Effect 3," and getting to know these new elements may take some time as well.

Players will be able to learn more about what "Mass Effect: Andromeda" has to offer as soon as the game is officially released on March 21.
