'Mass Effect: Andromeda' News, Update: Producer Talks Squad Mates, Gameplay and Day One Patch
With the release of "Mass Effect: Andromeda" nearing, BioWare shared via IGN a 17-minute gameplay video showing one of the missions in the upcoming action role-playing video game.
Game producer Mike Gamble answered some questions fans had about the game and the clip in particular on his Twitter. First off, he noted that the video showed "only a small portion" of the mission, which suggested that there will be a lot more to see.
A fan who noticed "a lot of hand-holding" in the video asked why it was the case. Gamble explained, "We introduce a few new mechanics in that mission, so we had to be a bit more hand-holdy than we normally are. Don't sweat it!"
When asked if players will get to choose their second squad mate in "Mass Effect: Andromeda," Gamble said, "You get to choose, and in typical Mass Effect style, you get different reactions."
He also said that each squad mate has unique skills and abilities, which will play a crucial part in how effective their team can be in missions.
When asked about loyalty or teammate-based missions in "Mass Effect: Andromeda," Gamble said that players can "build and foster your relationships over many adventures — not just a single mission."
Gamble and Bioware general manager Aaryn Flynn also answered a question about the day one patch. The latter said that the plan is to release it on March 16 for Early Access.
Gamble clarified this saying, "No promises yet. But we are working hard to make that a reality." This means that at the moment, nothing is set in stone yet.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" has recently gone gold, which means it is ready for release so fans will not have anything to worry about a delay.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is set for release March 21 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
