Massachusetts Bishops Unite Against “National Tragedy”

Boston- During the Dec. 6 Sunday Mass, the Roman Catholic bishops across Massachusetts will their parishioners that gay marriage is a “national tragedy,” one that would further erode the institution of marriage.

In the letter, the bishops complain that the recent state court ruling that calls for benefits to gay couples promotes “divisions in society,” and that the court’s mid-May deadline for the Legislature to rewrite the law is too rushed.

The bishops are asking Catholics to contact state leaders and push for a delay.
