'MasterChef' Season 4: Krissi Issues Apology for Racist Tweets
"MasterChef" has had a hard time this season, with the judges accused of sexual harassment by former contestants and now a new controversy has erupted that has fans outraged.
Contestant Krissi Biasiello from Philadelphia was found to have used a racial slur in a tweet and made a joke about being raped. The discovery of the tweets, and their subsequent publication, come at a time when the nation is dealing with the aftermath and revelation of Paula Deen's own use of the racial slur. Even though Biasiello apologized for the tweets, fans are still quite upset and hope that the contestant soon goes home.
"I'm very sorry for any offensive posts I've made on social media," Biasiello posted on her "MasterChef" Twitter feed. "It was never my intention to hurt or offend anyone and I deeply apologize."
Biasiello has been a formidable contestant that has not minced words on the show, even sparring with judge Joe Bastianich. She has not made any friends on the show and considers herself the "Lone Ranger" who will win the competition.
"For Krissi respect is a foreign concept #masterchef she has no clue and no class," tweeted Lanette.
"Eww. Krissi on MasterChef tweeting racist grossness. Bleah," added GailSimone.
"MasterChef" is a reality cooking competition series on Fox that features top chefs Joe Bastianich, Graham Elliot, and Gordon Ramsay. The three chefs mentor amateur chefs throughout the competition, and the winner takes home the title of MasterChef as well as cash and a published cookbook.
Last month one former contestant used her blog to reveal accusations of sexual harassment and the pain and suffering of being a contestant on the show. None of the judges released statements about the situation, but producers assured fans that the accusations were far from the truth and contestants were well taken care of while they were on the show.
"MasterChef" airs Wednesday nights on FOX.
