Matt Lauer Intern Apology: 'Today' Show Host Responds to Claims He Is 'Not So Nice' (VIDEO)
Matt Lauer has apologized to an intern who described him as "not so nice." The intern had apparently been an intern at the "Today" show in 1997, which was the same year Lauer became co-host on the show.
The rumors of Lauer being "not so nice" started when a local Fox reporter, Mark Zinni, retweeted a message from a follower on Tuesday explaining what his impression of Lauer was.
Lauer, who is not know for being a massive tweeter, saw the post and responded by tweeting back: "@MarkZinni huh? Always tried to be nice Mark. Sorry you didn't think so. Hope you're doing well. Matt."

Zinni has been contacted about his experiences with "Today" and Matt Lauer by Fox 8 News. He told them that he was "flattered" that Lauer had remembered him.
The news about Lauer not being too nice to work with, buys into the current popular public thought against the "Today" co-host. Many are still angry at him, and blame him for Ann Curry being fired from the show.
The news rounds off a tough time for Lauer, whose future is also thought to be shaky in the "Today" show. Deadline Hollywood reported on Wednesday that CNN host Anderson Cooper was contacted recently to replace Lauer on "Today" when his contract expires in 2014.
Meanwhile, other recent reports have claimed that NBC's Matt Lauer is himself considering switching networks and moving to ABC.
Lauer was in talks with ABC and used the possibility of an outside network contract to improve his position at NBC, a new report states.
NBC's "Today" show has suffered in ratings over the past year. Following the departure of Ann Curry, the network lost half a million viewers and eventually dropped behind its longtime competitor "Good Morning America."
