Mayim Bialik Lawsuit Continues as Actress Dispels Rumors She Lost Her Hand After Accident

Mayim Bialik is opening up and discussing what prompted her to file a lawsuit in response to a horrific car crash she was involved in last August.

In addition to explaining the nature of the lawsuit the actress tried to quell rumors that the crash almost cost her the use of her hand.

"I did not almost lose my hand," the Big Bang Theory star told E! News at the GLSEN's Respect Awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Friday. "I sustained significant injuries for which I am still recovering and will continue to be recovering," she explained.

More than a year after the accident the Emmy-nominated actress is still recovering and is still coping with the physical and emotional pain from the accident.

When asked how she is getting on today she simply said "it's alright" but she was still able to be positive about the situation.

"I'm aware of it every day not being one hundred percent," she said. "At least it wasn't my face torn open," she added.

The lawsuit was filed against the other driver involved in the crash and Hertz Rent-a-Car. Shortly after the accident that occurred on Aug. 15, 2012, Bialik wrote several blog posts to shoot down several rumors that had been started in the wake of the accident.

"I had a horrible accident," she wrote, noting that she was "lefty typing" due to the damage her right hand sustained during the accident.

"I will be okay," she continued. "I have all my fingers but a very impaired right hand. It was very bloody and scary but I am ok. A man named Tim and another man whose name I don't know saved me from losing a lot of blood and helped me talk to my husband at the scene. I am grateful to them."
