O'Brien will still play Thomas, as well as the characters played by Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Ki-Hong Lee. Another main character is Patricia Clarkson, who faked her death at the end of the first movie in order to convince Thomas and the others that they are indeed being rescued from the facility.

However, in addition to the mainstays, there are also a number of new faces that will make their debut at The Scorch Trials.

In the report, Aiden Gillen of Game of Thrones will join the action as a villain named Rat-man or Jansen. In addition, Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad will also be included in the cast.

Esposito will play the role of Jorge, who is a leader of another group of survivors that will cross paths with Thomas' group.

Lastly, the most recent addition to the cast is Lili Taylor from The Conjuring. She will play the role of Doctor Mary Cooper who will help Thomas and his fellow Gladers.

According to the report, the sequel will be action-packed as well like the first movie. However, the report mentions that the deaths in the second movie may be more brutal than the first.

The Maze Runner Chapter II: The Scorch Trials is said to be released in theaters on September 18, 2015 under 20th Century Fox.
