Executive Producer Michael Schur has told the Washington Post that the episode will take place in the capital city because show character Leslie Knope, now a city council member for Pawnee, Ind., will be attempting to work if whether or not she really wants to work her way up into "the next level of American politics."

Overall it is believed that up to five shows will be held in Washington, and allow the show to feature some of the American capital's most famous landmarks.

Parks and Recreation is a comedy television series aired by NBC led by Amy Poehler, who stars as Leslie Knope, a perky, mid-level bureaucrat in the parks department of Pawnee, Indiana.

The show was created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur and first debuted in April 2009. The show has already run for four seasons and a fifth has been commissioned for the 2012/13 season. The show is famous for using a single-camera, mockumentary filming style, with the implication being that a documentary crew is filming everyone.

The first series of Parks and Recreation did not excite all critics, and it received very varied reviews. Many saw it as too similar to The Office, which features a similar mockumentary filming style. However, the format and tone of the show was altered from the second series and this led to the show being widely accepted by critics and fans.
