Media Research Center President Calls Out 'Leftist' Media

The President of the Media Research Center has accused the liberal media of trying to push this year's presidential election in favor of President Obama, and he has sent a letter signed by prominent media figures to the heads of America's top news agencies.

Brent Bozell sent the signed letter to the top executives of ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN which details the skewed reporting that cable news agency have been conducting during this presidential season.

"This election year, so much of the broadcast networks, their cable counterparts, and the major establishment print media are out of control with a deliberate and unmistakable leftist agenda … there has never been a more brazen and complete attempt by the liberal so-called 'news' media to decide the outcome of an election," Bozell wrote in the letter.

Contained within the letter- which is signed by Rush Limbaugh, Tony Perkins and host of other conservatives- are several examples of how the leftist media is reporting on certain developments that have recently gained national attention.

The letter cites the continued portrayal of conservative ideas as extreme, while failing to mention the actual consequences of the failed liberal policies in place since 2008. It also takes issue with so called "fact-checking" claims which are used overwhelmingly to drum out conservative arguments while failing to properly refute liberal claims that distort the truth.

And perhaps the most serious of all is the intentional omission by the liberal media to forgo serious coverage of the real problems plaguing America while choosing to focus on minor political issues.

The only way for the liberal media to regain credibility, as stated by Bozell, is to abide by the journalism code of ethics. Cable executives should pay attention to the seriousness of the letter given that dislike and distrust of the cable news industry is at an all-time low.

"A free and balanced media are crucial to the health of this country. It is your duty as journalists – as outlined in the Society of Professional Journalists' Code of Ethics – to 'distinguish between advocacy and news reporting,' while simultaneously 'seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues,'" Bozell wrote.
