Pastor Perry Noble says there are two important and potentially life-changing questions Christians can ask themselves in order to move forward in their personal faith.

Noble, who heads NewSpring Church in Anderson, South Carolina, said during a recent sermon that the two questions are: "God, what is my next step?" Once this question is answered, the next important question is, "What am I waiting for?"

These questions are especially important to people who are currently feeling stuck in their spiritual journey and need some motivation to move forward, he explains.

Noble's focus on these two questions centers around Ephesians 1:17-20, which points to three ways in which a Christian can figure out their next step: through wisdom, insight, and ability.

"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms […]," the verses read.

These verses show that Paul is not only asking God what his next step should be, but he's asking that he may see God more clearly.

Requesting to see and understand God more clearly will ultimately show you your next step, Noble explains.

Along with asking for the wisdom to better know God, we need to have insight so we can feel as God feels and ultimately have a clearer direction.

Additionally, we need to take advantage of our ability. Because we as Christians have the Holy Spirit within us, we have incomparable power and the ability to do great things, Noble says.

Once we figure out what our next step as Christians is, we can figure out how to follow through with it.

Figuring out how to follow through with your next step is half the battle, Noble continues, adding that there are three levels to this task, including information, inspiration, and transformation.

The first level of knowing biblical information is a good start to following through in improving your faith, but it is just the beginning. Next comes inspiration, and the final level is transformation, when we truly allow God to transform us and take us to the next level of our faith.

Noble concludes his sermon by citing Romans 12:1-2 as encouragement to all Christians to offer their lives to Jesus so they may take the next step in their faith journey.

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is— his good, pleasing and perfect will," the verses read.
