Megyn Kelly Ratings Dip Alarming 'Today' Show, Affecting Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb

Megyn Kelly's numbers are going down in her brand new segment on the "Today" show on NBC. It's been so bad, allegedly, that her ratings also affect Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb's segment.

A source told Page Six that people are alarmed about the slipping ratings. Kelly comes on before Gifford and Kotb and their numbers are down 32 percent from last season.

"The format for Megyn's show doesn't make sense," a source told the publication. "Her show distracts from the 'Today' franchise."

NBC insiders, however, said that executives are reportedly not worried about Kelly's numbers just yet. They expect that since she's new to "Today," then her ratings will fluctuate. Kelly joined the morning show last September.

NBC news chairman Andrew Lack said a few months back that the network will be patient with the imperfect ratings of "Megyn Kelly Today." But this might become a problem if things don't improve because her segment costs more to produce than other segments on the morning show.

NBC hired Kelly in January after she left FOX News following 12 years as an anchor. Her salary supposedly falls around $17 million annually.

Meanwhile, Kelly might have found her footing in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal. The Daily Beast stated that the anchor sounded like herself again in discussing the latest developments of the sexual harassment accusations in her morning program.

Kelly scored her biggest ratings on Monday, Oct. 9, with 2.6 million viewers and nearly one million in the key demo. She sat down with Lauren Sivan, who came forward with her accusations against Weinstein.

"Megyn Kelly Today" comes on the third hour of the "Today" show at 9:00 a.m. EST. Her series follows a talk-show format with a live audience in the studio. It directly competes with "Live with Kelly & Ryan" with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest on ABC.
