Mel B Granted Restraining Order Against Ex-Husband Stephen Belafonte
Melanie Brown aka Mel B was recently granted a restraining order against estranged husband Stephen Belafonte, whom she accuses of physically and emotionally abusing her.
Mel B explained in detail all the maltreatment she had to endure for years being with Belafonte, a producer and director, in the court documents obtained by People.
The former Spice Girls member claims that Belafonte impregnated their nanny and told her that she will live with them until he decided to have the baby aborted using Mel B's money.
Mel B also detailed how Belafonte would force her to participate in sexual intercourse with him and "random women," and that he would threaten to release intimate videos of her to the world should she object.
"I have lived the past decade in fear that [Belafonte] would release intimate videos of me that would embarrass me and damage my reputation and my career," Mel B stated in the documents.
"Once [he] made the threat of releasing videos, it became impossible to say no to him, giving him complete control," she went on to say.
Mel B also detailed the numerous times that Belafonte physically hurt her. There was the time when she was filming "The X Factor," but was instructed to film a "Home Visit" segment with singer Usher.
Upon learning this, Belafonte punched her in the face and accused her of flirting with Usher. The bruises from this incident were difficult to cover up with makeup when she returned to set that Mel B had to make an excuse her swollen face was due to an allergic reaction on shellfish.
There was another instance when Belafonte pushed and punched Brown after her Spice Girls performance at the London Olympics back in 2012. He forced her to cover it up by explaining on Twitter that she just fell.
Belafonte also reportedly refused to get Mel B some help after she swallowed a bottle of aspirin. Last year, she prohibited her from being with her dying father in England.
Mel B and Belafonte became a couple after working together in the 2007 film "Talk." They got secretly married five months later and renewed their vows a year later.
Brown said that she has been suffering at the hands of Belafonte for years now, but as per TMZ, authorities were not contacted even if she showed signs of the abuse.
