Mel B Joins 'America's Got Talent,' Talks Auditions
Spice Girl Mel B and Hedi Klum made their "America's Got Talent" judging debut last night. The two joined the show after Sharon Osborne decided not to return as a judge. Howard Stern and Howie Mandel will serve as the veteran judges on the panel.
Mel B is no stranger to judging competitions as she was a judge on both the Australian and U.K. versions of "X Factor." Though "X Factor" is exclusively a singing competition and "America's Got Talent" runs the gamut from music to physical stunts, the former Spice Girl told The Hollywood Reporter that she very excited to be joining the show.
"I love this show, and of course the fact that it's now in New York at Radio City Music Hall -- that's a legendary place that makes the show even more exciting. It's a great family show, and people love watching it. I've watched for many years; I sit down with my kids and watch it. It's nice to be a part of it," she said.
Mel B also discussed some of the different acts she saw while holding auditions with the cast of "America's Got Talent."
"There was one guy and his girlfriend piercing each other ... I found it repulsive. They were bleeding, literally. Then someone went up an 80-foot-pole with no safety net and did a handstand. There were normal acts too -- cloggers, dancers," she told THR.
Despite seeing some less-than-appealing acts, it seems Mel B is enjoying her foray into non-musical competition.
"It's been an interesting journey so far," she said.
