Men Look for Restoration at 'He-Motions' Conference
More than 3,000 men from across the nation treated themselves to three days of rejuvenation at the first ever For Men Only Conference hosted by Bishop T.D. Jakes.
Designed to speak to the spiritual, emotional and practical needs of men, the men's conference and retreat, held Mar. 9-11 at the Gaylord Texan, invested in the development of the family "foundation," what Dr. Myles Munroe, one of the event speakers, identified the male as.
"The restoration of men is the key to healing the community and the nation," he said in a released statement. "The most important part of a building is the foundation and the male is the divine foundation of the human family."
Not only are men the foundation for the human family, but they are also key to the church family. In an earlier study, David Murrow, author of Why Men Hate Going to Church, said a healthy church must have male participation.
Munroe also stressed the value of men, saying, "Any investment in the development of men is an investment in the security of our future," said Munroe. "I believe this retreat is one of the greatest investments any man can make in his own life and any woman can make in the man she loves."
Nationally renowned speakers including Jakes; Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church; Munroe, founder of Bahamas Faith Ministries International; and Grammy-winner Fred Hammond brought a diverse crowd of men together around the theme "He-Motions Even Strong Men Struggle."
The retreat guaranteed to assist the thousands of men "crystallize their individual goals and ascertain God's unique plans for their lives" as they focused on faith, family, finance and business, according to a released statement.
The Potter's House's next major event is the family-oriented 2006 MegaFest, scheduled for July 19-22 in Atlanta, Ga.
