Men's 4x100M Relay Final Live Stream: Watch Online Track and Field From London 2012 Olympics (Race Time 4PM)
The men's 4x100M relay final at the London 2012 Olympics will take place on Saturday, and will feature Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake attempting to complete Jamaica's clean sweep and dominance of sprint events at these Games. The men's 4x100 meter relay final will take place at 4 p.m. and can be watched online through live stream (details below).
Bolt has already won sprint gold medals in the 100M and 200M events so far in London, and he became the first person to successfully defend his 200M Olympic title earlier this week. Prior to that he also retained his 100M crown running a new Olympic record time of 9.63 seconds – the second fastest time in history.
He now joins his Jamaican teammates attempting to claim the prestigious 4x100M relay gold medal. If he can manage to accomplish that feat he will again claim a third Olympic gold of the games – replicating his achievement at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games four years ago.
Jamaica clearly have the fastest team of sprinters in the world coming into this event, and there has rarely been such an overwhelming favorite coming into the relay final.
However, not always the team with the fastest individuals win the gold medal in this team event. The Jamaicans will have to navigate their way through three baton passes to ensure they have a chance to show off their speed.
In recent history Team USA and Team GB are just two nations that have struggled in the relay with baton exchanges. Dropped batons and errors have cost those two teams dearly over recent years, and even this year Team GB have fallen to the pressure again. Their quartet were hopeful of claiming a medal in the 4x100M relay final in front of a home crowd. However, they will miss out on the final as their team was disqualified in a poor baton exchange in their qualification heat.
