Mercy Me, Phil Wickham and For King and Country to Headline Harvest America with Greg Laurie in Dallas
Mercy Me, Phil Wickham and For King and Country will headline the Harvest America crusade at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Oct. 5, Pastor Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries announced Thursday.
"All three of these groups have been a part of Harvest events in the past, and understand the importance of their role to be used by God to prepare the hearts of those in attendance to hear the message of the Gospel," said pastor John Collins, executive director of Harvest America.
Harvest America in Dallas is planned as a national and even international outreach, utilizing satellite and live-streaming technology to simulcast the event to thousands of remote venues.
"Through Harvest America, we believe we can reach as many people in the next 1,000 days as our Harvest Crusades have reached in more than 20 years, because just about everyone has access to live-streaming technology," said Laurie, senior pastor of the Harvest Christian Fellowship church in Riverside, California.
"While I'm sharing the message in Dallas, Texas, hundreds of thousands of individuals all across the country will receive it simultaneously, and be given a chance to respond in their own venue — whether that's a church, a movie theater, a community center or even their own home."
More than 600 locations have already registered as host sites for the live event.
During a speech in January to launch the event, Laurie explained that since the death of his oldest son, Christopher, in 2008, he's had a renewed fervor for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
"I've had a greater passion for preaching the Gospel in the last five years more than I've had my entire life. And the reason for that is because our oldest son, Christopher, was killed in an automobile accident," said Laurie, who has authored a book on heaven titled, As It Is In Heaven: How Eternity Brings Focus to What Really Matters.
He continued, "This is the worst tragedy imaginable. I think I can tell you that it actually is a fate worse than death."
"…But one of the things that it did to me, and through me and for me, is I had a greater awareness of eternity. I feel like I have one foot in heaven and one foot on earth. When you have someone as close as a son up in heaven before you are there, it just makes you aware of the urgency of what it is we're doing. And it's actually given me a greater passion and even an energy to press forward and to take greater risks for the kingdom of God," he said.
